Discover the power of the forest – Time spent in natural environments is linked to improved physical and mental health and the latest research from the Max Planck Institute for Human Development in Berlin found that people who live near forests enjoy better mental health.
The study covered people living near urban green spaces, forests and wastelands to determine its influence on the amygdala – which regulates stress in the brain.
The study discovered that people living near a forest were more likely to have healthy amygdalas and thus better able to manage stress, depression and anxiety.
However, the impact is not the same if you live near urban green spaces, parks or gardens.
Only living near a forest gives this health benefit.
In the study, they involved 341 participants between the ages of 61 and 82 and they have to live within a one kilometre radius of a forest – Global Wellness Digest
